One of the world’s fastest cars – the Rimac Nevera R – took on the fastest RC car in the world in a quarter-mile drag race that is astoundingly close.
RC cars have come a long way since being children’s toys and Call of Duty killstreaks.
The remote-controlled vehicles can now zip down racetracks at breakneck speeds, looking hilarious and dangerous all the while.
But could it take down the fastest EV in the world in a Rimac Nevera R in a drag race?

Rimac Nevera R vs the world’s fastest RC car drag race
The Rimac Nevera R is one heck of a supercar. Hailing from Croatia, the fastest EV in history can reach a top speed of 256MPH.
It’s actually the third-quickest accelerating car in the world.
So, surely it leaves a toy car in the dust, right? Right…
Well, this Arrma Limitless is no joke and is slated as the fastest RC car in the world.

Steve Hamilton, of The Hamilton Group, decided to bring in the Arrma Limitless and world championship driver James McCoy to drag race against his own Rimac Nevera R.
The YouTube upload showcased a number of RCs going up against supercars. But the Honda Ruckus motorbike was the first challenger for these nippy RC cars.
And, it’s safe to say that the toy is rapid, as it obliterated the bike in the opening drag race.
Round two saw a Dodge Viper RT/10 take on the Arrma Felony RC. Despite this lower-spec RC jetting off quickly, its top speed was soon maxed out. So the Dodge pulled up to the finish line with a comfortable overtake.
Ramping things up, a Lamborghini Aventador SV raced the next grade of RC cars in the Plan B Racing Street Eliminator.
Here, things started looking shaky for the supercars. The RC absolutely destroyed the Lambo, completing a quarter-mile sprint in 10 seconds.
The main card
With over 2,000HP, the Rimac Nevera R is as close to an RC as you can make from an actual supercar, but would it be able to hold off competition from the bite-sized auto?
The RC took an early lead but struggled to stay straight throughout the entire quarter-mile, wavering off-course slightly.
With the Rimac setting a time of 8.81 seconds in the sprint, it managed to edge the RC by a car’s length – a usual car, not the toy.

“I only had to spend two and a half million bucks to beat the fastest RC which is probably just a couple of thousand,” Hamilton said.
The YouTuber revealed that he’d be keen to revisit the race in the future once the supposedly quicker Tesla Roadster comes out.
