Škoda Vision O reinvents the station wagon with electrified power, minimalist design, and practical luxury

Škoda Vision O concept is a totally new take on station wagons, with an ultra-futuristic design, electric power, and a lot of components made from recycled materials.
It’s not exactly a wagon, not exactly a shooting brake.
It’s its own thing.
And there’s more good news.

The new Škoda Vision O is halfway between a wagon and a massive coupe
Škoda is challenging the absolute dominance of SUVs in the market with a new wagon concept (the Czech brand often calls them ‘Combi’) called the Vision O.
The main distinctive feature is the B-pillar, which stands out.
Unlike the A-pillar and C-pillar, it matches the color of the body panels and is therefore (visually) not fully integrated into the bodywork.

It’s a relatively minor detail but it makes all the difference because it (in part) makes this ‘normal’ wagon look like a very long coupe.
If they also painted the C-pillars in the same color, this would 100 percent look just like a wagon.
The fact you can barely see the rear doors also helps.

The Vision O is very long by European standards (4.8 meters or 191 inches) and very wide at 1.9 meters (74.8 inches).
It’s only about four inches narrower than the Range Rover, Cadillac Escalade or Cybertruck – and those are huge vehicles.
The panoramic roof extends all the way to the rear, making this electric wagon appear even bigger.
Also, it has coach doors at the rear, but to be fair this solution will almost certainly be abandoned in the production model, in favor of more practical ‘normal’ doors.

Inside, you’ve got a 1.2-meter (47.2-inch) screen that covers most of the dashboard, and another screen for the infotainment right below it.
The perforated headrests (also made from recycled materials) look cool but, just like the coach doors, probably won’t make it to production.
There’s good and bad news
The bad news is we don’t know whether the Škoda Vision O concept will translate into an equivalent production model.
But the good news is this represent the brand’s vision for the future, which means something similar will sooner or later be offered in the market.
There’s no mention of powertrain, but we do know it’s going to be electric.

Historically, VW Group has used Škoda (along with other brands in its portfolio) as a testbed for unconventional and provocative vehicles they wouldn’t necessarily put into production with the VW badge.
This strategy is clearly paying off considering how the Czech brand has been performing in the market.
Hopefully, this’ll continue with a production version of the Vision O.
