More auto-enthusiasts are switching over to owning an EV in order to save both the environment and cash.

But this man has revealed all when it comes to just how much money he saved by opting for an EV.

YouTuber Andy Slye bought the EV six years ago.

His vehicle of choice? A Tesla Model 3 that he bought for $54,000.

And, aside from splashing out on a few things and spending $3200 on optional expenses, the money to charge his Model 3 was surprisingly low.

By charging his Tesla at home, he’s spent just $2,772.

Over six years, you have to admit that amount of cash isn’t bad, the cost did slightly increase to $4,255 after adding up public charging – and the cost of an outlet too.

But he also took things one step further and compared the cost of Tesla to a BMW powered by gas, and it was even more shocking.

He estimated that he’d managed to save approximately $20,000 on that front, which is a substantial amount of cash.

Why are people choosing to buy a Tesla Model 3?

Well, with many drivers making the big switch from gas-powered vehicles to electric ones, it’s no secret that running an EV is often cheaper.

In fact, the Model 3 has previously been praised for its cost to charge by car lovers, like this man who refused to purchase a home charger kit and instead relied on public charging methods, such as his gym car park.

So, a Model 3 could be a good vehicle to test out EV life with – but other makes and models have also been praised for costing dimes to charge, too.

For now, though, catch Andy Slye revealing all about his Tesla Model 3 below.
