Remember the Tesla owner who put millions of kilometers under the tires of his Tesla Model S?
Well, he’s not stopping.
He’s reached 2.5 million kilometers, and he’s not stopping.
And what makes this record even more incredible is how he achieved it.

This Tesla owner is on his way to a world record
Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg – at this point you could call him a celebrity – is a Tesla owner who’s been putting millions of kilometers under the tires of his Tesla Model S for years.
He bought it new well over a decade ago and just started driving it every day.
Obviously he isn’t the only person in the world to have done this.
He isn’t the only car owner to have pushed his car beyond the million-mile mark.

One Greek taxi driver racked up an astonishing 3 million miles over the course of 23 years, whilst a Canadian cabbie hit 1.6 million over 35 years.
Meanwhile, a man in Slovakia owns a Model X with over 200,000 miles on the clock and, just like von Gemmingen-Hornberg’s Tesla, his car looks as good as new.
But his record stands out because A, it’s an electric car and B, 2.5 million kilometers is close to a world record.
He’s ‘only’ a couple of million kilometers away from the world record held by the owner of a classic Volvo.

What makes his record even more impressive
Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg holds the record for the highest mileage for an EV and a Tesla, but there’s something else that makes it impressive.
He said he’s done 2.5 million kilometers (1.55 million miles) using ‘just’ 13 engines and four battery packs.
Not a bad average.
Nothing deteriorates faster than the battery pack in an EV so using only four to get to 2.5 million kilometers is truly impressive.
