Self-proclaimed ‘Princess of Rap’ Ice Spice just gave her Mercedes CLA a ‘princess af wrap’, and it’s utterly butterly in a melted chrome kind of way.

A great car is often described as a piece of art.

But Mercedes has recently upped the ante on this front and turned its CLA range into a canvas for celebs.

In a series of art pieces to be unveiled in the coming weeks, Ice Spice has led the charge and showcased a wild Merc made of melted chrome.

Mercedes shows off new Ice Spice collab with customised ‘Princess’ CLA

Mercedes is no stranger to producing some extremely cool custom cars – new Formula 1 driver Kimi Antonelli was treated with one upon his arrival to the team.

As part of a new art initiative, Mercedes has paired with a string of celebrities and influencers to create some wild collaborations.

The first of which is with American rap artist Isis Naija Gaston – aka Ice Spice.

Dubbed the ‘Princess of Rap’ – in her own words, of course – the artist took momentum from featuring in the Barbie soundtrack onto the race track with Mercedes.

And this is what was formed: a molten chrome dripping CLA with a diamond-crusted ‘Princess’ decal, custom Ice Spice-printed wheels, and a matching necklace to top off the fit.

The design was shown off in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, where the cast of the namesake show was in attendance.

But it’s safe to say that the pretty in pink design won’t be driving through NYC any time soon, not unless anyone has a very, very sturdy ice-spice scraper in the boot.

‘Class of Creators’ will make more wild designs

This Mercedes CLA isn’t just a one-off, though, as the Class of Creators partnership will see at least four more cars in this series get makeovers.

Next up is Swedish designer Gustaf Westman (known for his playful furniture), whose design is described as ‘chunky’ and will be revealed on May 22.

The series will be wrapped up following collabs KidSuper, Hot Wheels, and League of Legends, the latter of which will likely come to celebrate the World Championships, which was headlined by Linkin Park last year.

But for the inaugural art piece, it’s safe to say that the Princess of Rap went typically sassy and large with her design.

Female rap star Nicki Minaj also has a taste for high-flavor cars, and her collection is just as tickled-pink.
