The world’s longest range EV truck can go so far nothing else even comes close to it

  • The Chevy Silverado EV RST supposedly has the longest range of an EV
  • A YouTuber wanted to test it on a drive from Las Vegas to Phoenix
  • It’s fair to say that the truck impressed him

The world’s longest range EV truck can go really far, and this YouTuber put it to the test by driving it from Las Vegas to Phoenix.

JerryRigEverything declared the Chevy Silverado EV RST to be the electric truck ‘king’.

With an advertised range of 440 miles, it’s easy to see why.

But how would it fare on a 440-mile drive from Las Vegas to Phoenix?

How would the longest range EV truck fare on a 440 mile road trip?

When it comes to road trips, we want to feel reassured that we’re driving the right car, and EVs are no exception.

We’ve seen people put electric vehicles to the test on long-haul journeys before – this New Jersey pitted a Tesla against a gas car on a 1,000 mile road trip.

A husband and wife did a similar experiment over in California, whilst one man did a cross country trip in his Hyundai IONIQ 5.

Jerry’s drive wouldn’t be quite that long, but there was still an element of challenge.

He wanted to make the whole 440-mile drive from Las Vegas down to Phoenix without stopping.

The drive would be along highways, but there would also be some back country dirt roads.

Jerry said: “We’ve only got one shot to make it from point a to point b.”

Whether it would be a success or a failure, the drive would certainly expose Jerry to some sensational views of the American west.

But as far as views inside the truck were concerned, Jerry had high praise for the Silverado’s display.

He said: “I drive a lot of electric trucks, I’ve been inside the Lightning, the Cybertruck, the Rivian…

“None of them has ever given me the actual output of how much energy is leaving through the motors and how much is being regenerated.”

On the whole, it’s a very efficient truck – achieving approximately two miles per kilowatt-hour.

How was the drive overall?

After 288 miles of driving, there was an estimated 206 miles of range left.

So it exceeded the already high expectations that had been placed on it.

Jerry said: “I have the off-road version of the Rivian R1T, I love the truck, it’s my daily driver.

“As of right now, my max range is 280 miles.

“I’d already be done and dead on the side of the road.”

All in all, he made it to Phoenix on a single ‘tank’ of electricity and he was very impressed.

“One of the longest range [electric vehicles] in the world is an electric truck,” he concluded.

“That range is amazing for everyday driving, I bet it’s going to be even more amazing for towing.”
