This YouTuber uncovered a McLaren MP4-12C that had been left to rot in the Florida elements.

Admiring the supercar brand from afar, he’d always dreamed of owning one.

So, when the news of a listing reached him, he simply had to check it out.

But there was one huge catch.

McLaren makes some seriously fast supercars

The auto manufacturer has an extensive line of cars known for their incredibly powerful performance.

For example, this 24-year-old American shopped for a $3M McLaren Speedtail, but ended up choosing the unexpected $5M option.

Plus, El Chapo’s missing McLaren F1, hidden in Mexico in 2000, would be worth $20 million today, but no one has been able to track it down.

However, this man found a McLaren in Florida that, shall we say, had seen better days.

But, after finding out about it, he simply had to check it out.

It’s a McLaren… but not as we know it

YouTuber DrParker’s dream was always owning a McLaren, and he was contacted with information about a 2012 McLaren MP4-12C.

“It’s a dream car of mine,” he said as he drove to the location of the abandoned car.

But, there was a catch – the supercar had been left to fend for itself in the elements, and wasn’t in the best of conditions.

DrParker explained that the owner had actually previously bought it with damage from a car website, so it wasn’t perfect to begin with.

Plus, there was another huge factor – the windows had been left open, and it had suffered through several weather-related disasters.

“It’s been through probably four or five hurricanes like this,” remarked the creator.

“I’ve always loved the styling and look of these McLarens,” he stated, but he also wondered if it was too big a project to take on.

Hurricanes and McLarens don’t mix well

Eager to see if it was the real deal, the YouTuber was prepared and brought parts along with him, including a battery, to attempt to start it up.

But with bits of the car hanging off all over, it wasn’t an easy job.

However, as luck would have it, the McLaren MP4-12C started up and was drivable.

“Dude, that’s crazy – I’m shocked,” he explained.

Even though the owner had put some time into it, the car had been lying out in one of the most humid places in the country. So getting into shape required a huge commitment.

After calculating costs and estimating how much buying one new would cost, it was crunch time.

DrParker noted in the caption of the video that he ‘made an offer that I thought was fair’ at $10,000 – but it wasn’t meant to be.

“Unfortunately, the current owner has [put] too much money into it to accept my offer, but maybe he will come around in the future.”
