Most people would be happy to sit back and watch a plane take off, but these YouTubers had a rather different aviation experience in a Boeing 747.

The creators behind TGF took on the enormous task of burying a real Boeing 747 underground and turning it into a giant escape room.

The ambitious project involved heavy machinery, a huge hole in the ground and some seriously unpleasant challenges.

And once two of the creators were sealed inside, they had to work out how to get back out.

Burying a real Boeing 747 was no easy task

Getting a full-sized passenger airplane underground was never going to be a simple weekend project.

The team from TGFbro had to transport the Boeing 747 to the site, with the enormous aircraft causing traffic problems along the way.

The project also came with a hefty price tag, reportedly costing upwards of around $53,300.

Once the plane arrived, the next challenge was preparing the ground beneath it.

The team excavated a huge hole and began transforming the aircraft into an underground escape room, complete with multiple rooms and puzzles.

A crane was then brought in to carefully lower the plane into position.

With the aircraft exposed to the wind during the lift, there was little room for error as the team worked to get it safely into the ground.

The escape room involved some seriously grim challenges

With the plane finally in place, Jay and Romell were sealed inside and tasked with finding their way out.

The underground setup included a reinforced roof and breathing tubes, while the pair had to work through a series of puzzles to progress.

But this was far from a traditional escape room, with the challenges becoming increasingly unpleasant as the video continued.

Among the tasks were food challenges involving the notoriously spicy One Chip Challenge, a protein shake made with mackerel and raw egg, and a century egg.

The pair also had to deal with messy containers, decipher codes and complete a challenge involving a target weight of 212 pounds.

And the misery did not stop there: the challenges included a bath filled with nettles, a shock collar and flash bangs, meaning the pair had plenty to contend with beyond simply solving puzzles.

Could they actually escape the buried plane?

As the challenge continued, the team introduced even more obstacles, including a house-of-cards task that added another test of patience to the already chaotic experience.

The project also saw parts of the aircraft cut into collectible pieces, with other items, including a moped and suitcases, becoming part of the challenges.

Eventually, Jay and Romell managed to make it through the escape room, bringing the unusual underground aviation adventure to an end.

The creators also used the video to promote their collectibles and asked viewers what they should bury next, with a submarine among the suggestions.

It is certainly a different way to put a retired passenger plane to use, and one that required considerably more effort than simply converting an aircraft into a restaurant or turning it into a home.
