This sharp all-electric scooter looks like something from a sci-fiction movie but is very much a reality – and is offering a cool alternative to cars.

New York-based start-up Infinite Machine has set itself the lofty ambition of making ‘the most compelling non-cars on Earth’.

But take a look at its first product – called P1 – and you might soon find yourself in agreement.

I mean – let’s be honest – it’s very cool, isn’t it?

The P1 electric scooter is quite unlike anything else out there

The P1 combines ‘cutting edge industrial design with breakthrough performance and utility’, according to Infinite Machine.

“We envision a post-car future, where humanity and nature thrive together,” the company adds – in a statement that sounds very much like something from a sci-fi flick.

The EV scooter has a top speed of 88km/h (55mph), which – according to Infinite Machine – makes it the fastest vehicle in its class.

It has a range of just under 100km (60 miles) in city environments and has a ‘near silent’ motor.

The battery is removable and can be charged with a standard outlet in your home. Smart.

Of course, if you really wanted something futuristic – the Airscooter is a personal flying machine that can soar up to heights of 9,800 feet.

It’s designed to replace cars in the city

The P1’s creators say it was designed to be the ‘ultimate vehicle for navigating a city’

“In cities full of gridlock, we built a product to enable freedom and autonomy,” said co-founder Eddie Cohen. “We’ve been riding motorcycles and scooters for years, but we were fundamentally unsatisfied with what’s in the market.

“That led us to build P1.”

Fair enough.

Alongside its good looks and nippy EV engine, the scooter features a modular system that can be mounted with all manner of modules, from a loudspeaker to cargo; there’s also plenty of storage room including a pocket under the steering cluster and a container beneath the seat

“P1 is the vehicle of our dreams: a beautiful, fast, smart tool for exploring cities,” said co-founder Joseph Cohen. “It is the culmination of years of research, design, and engineering, representing our vision for a post-car future. We couldn’t be more proud to share it with the world.”

The P1 was launched as a limited run of 10,000 units with a price tag of $10,000 – not a bad price to live out your Judge Dredd dreams, is it?
