When searching through a barn, this Ohio man discovered a 1964 GTO, which ended up ticking every single box.

This Pontiac made its way onto eBay as one of 6,000 made, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

This car hasn’t been altered, it’s never been restored, and its engine last ran around 10 years ago.

Could this be a risk worth taking or one to steer clear of altogether?

What do we know about this 1964 GTO?

The GTO wasn’t launched as a stand-alone series – it was available alongside the Lemans, available for an extra $295.

Believe it or not, customers didn’t mind paying extra for the GTO, and it became something of an overnight success as 32,450 snapped one up.

The four-barrel configuration was particularly popular, with more than 24,000 orders.

It even boosted the sales of Lemans, as they doubled from 61,659 units to 112,636 units.

That’s impressive, but what makes this particular GTO that made its way onto eBay so special?

Well, it’s one of only 6,000 with this specific configuration – AKA a convertible.

But the car isn’t in the tip-top condition you may have hoped for.

Don’t get us wrong, we’ve seen barn find cars in a worse condition – take this 1971 Plymouth Barracuda that had been sitting in cow dung as a prime example.

What you need to know if you want to buy this car

The seller said the car would only need a ‘light restoration’, but that’s for the buyer to determine – ideally with an in-person inspection.

After all, this is a factory original car, and it has gone unmodified for all of its 60 years.

And that’s before we consider the fact that the car has been sitting dormant for years.

It’s certainly a car that would be deserving of some TLC, but make sure you go into this feeling informed.

With a going price of $9,600, and 33 bids put in so far, make sure you’re in it to win it by visiting the eBay page.

We’ve certainly seen a lot of impressive cars make their way onto eBay over the past few years.

There’s no shortage of vehicles on that site, including a double-decker bus and a 1958 Chevy owned by the founder of Wendy’s.
