This 1968 Plymouth Fury III convertible was given a careful restoration so it can go to a new home with a combat veteran.

Plymouth introduced the Fury as a sub-series of the Belvedere in 1956.

Fast-forward three years, and the Plymouth Fury was released as a separate car.

It was in production until 1989 across seven generations, and a third-generation model has just been snapped up and restored for a very good reason.

The Plymouth Fury III will go to a new owner

The 1968 Plymouth Fury III was bought at auction by TV personality Chris Jacobs, who enlisted the help of the team behind the Mopars5150 YouTube channel.

The car has made several appearances at auction in recent years.

It first went under the hammer in 2021, and then twice in 2022.

Overall, the 1968 Plymouth Fury III, wasn’t in bad shape, but it had a few issues that would need ironing out before it could go to a new owner.

A broken window motor needed to be replaced, the car’s tailpipes needed to be routed past the tank, rather than straight down, and the sluggish carburetor required some attention.

It was also given a wash, polish, and detailing so it looked as good as new.

Restoring the Plymouth Fury III to its former glory was a real labor of love and was done with a very good cause in mind.

Jacobs has teamed up with Mopars5150 to give the car away – for free – to a deserving combat veteran.

As yet, the team hasn’t decided if the 1968 Plymouth Fury III will be given away as a raffle prize or simply handed to a ‘certain someone’.

“But in some way, shape or form, this is going to help combat vets,” the YouTuber explained.

“I would like to see a deserving combat vet get the car.”

The Plymouth has been hailed as a ‘first’ for Mopars5150

While the car itself is pretty rare, the guys behind Mopars5150 say it has a unique claim as it’s the only car that has been donated specifically to go to a combat veteran.

Mopars5150 pointed out that they have given away their own cars in the past, but this

1968 Plymouth Fury III is the first donated vehicle they have ever worked on, with the sole intention of giving it away to a good cause.
