An 88-year-old retired nurse finally saw her dream come true when a stranger gave up his first-class seat on a Virgin Atlantic flight from New York to London.
Everything happened quite naturally.
It was one of those unique right place and right time moments.
As a result, the 88-year-old retired nurse was able to experience what was possibly one of the best travel experiences of her life.

Violet Allison, an 88-year-old retired nurse, was traveling on a Virgin Atlantic flight, returning to London after visiting her daughter in New York.
By pure chance, on the same Virgin Atlantic flight was a 29-year-old who was flying first class but didn’t particularly care about his first-class seat.

At some point, this guy just decided to give up his seat because he didn’t want it and thought it’d be a nice gesture, which it definitely was.
It’s unclear how he chose to gift it to Violet.
Maybe it was because she was the oldest passenger on board, or maybe it was because he’d mentioned it to one of the flight attendants, and the flight attendant said something about it.
Either way, Violet ended up flying first class while the 29-year-old guy was happy to take her seat in Economy.

As you can imagine, the story immediately went viral and Virgin Atlantic took this as an opportunity to offer upgrades to the eldest passengers on flights between Christmas and New Year’s Eve that year.
And Virgin Atlantic’s first class is pretty spectacular.
The airline calls it Upper Class (tomato-tomatoe), but that doesn’t change the fact that flying first class with an airline like Virgin is the most luxurious flying experience this side of a private jet or an all-business class airline.
We hope Violet had the time of her life!
