This man bought an abandoned 1976 Chevrolet Laguna S-3 for just $200 and found some seriously good news under the hood.

The Chevy Laguna was the top-of-the-line version of the Chevelle, launched in 1973.

But it turned out that the car was here for a good time and not a long time, with production ending just three years later.

Its limited production run means that today, the Laguna is a pretty rare find – even when it’s not in great condition.

The Chevrolet Laguna S-3 was a rare find

When buying a used car there’s also a bit of a risk of finding a surprise – sometimes this can be a good find, such as this 1969 Plymouth GTX that had $10,000 stashed away inside, other times it can be not so good, like the guy who found a family of mice inside a Honda Acura NSX.

Fortunately, in the case of this abandoned 1976 Chevrolet Laguna S-3 it was the former.

The poor old Laguna was looking worse for wear when it was found by the guys from the Lovejoy $#!tbox Sanctuary YouTube channel.

It had parked in a field since the 1990s and the exposure to the elements had left its bodywork in a sorry state.

Not only that, but the once-beautiful Laguna no longer ran.

However, these issues were reflected in the price and the car enthusiasts were able to snap it up for just $200.

It was hiding a neat surprise under the hood

Given the state of the car and the fact it cost less than most vacuum cleaners – the team from Lovejoy $#!tbox Sanctuary was expecting the Chevrolet Laguna S-3  to need a serious amount of work to get it back on the road again.

But they were left pleasantly surprised after checking under the hood and finding the original V8 engine in pretty solid condition.

After spending just $300 on replacement parts – and putting in a few hours of work – the Laguna was up and running again.

Of course, it’s still in need of some additional work to get it road-worthy again, but this is one classic that’s well on its way to getting a new lease of life.

Don’t you love to see it?
