Aviation lovers worldwide might be stunned to hear the current Air Force One Boeing 747 is set to be inserted into a Miami skyscraper.
In a plan that truly is as wild as it sounds, President Trump is planning on building a new presidential library that will be located in downtown Miami, Florida.
Not wishing to be outdone by other presidential libraries, the current plan is for the aircraft that is currently serving as Air Force One to be inserted into that new building.
It is certainly an unusual way for an airplane to spend its retirement.
This is what we know will happen to the Air Force One Boeing 747
Renders were recently shared that showcase what the finished skyscraper will look like.
Taking center stage is, of course, the current Air Force One.

The Boeing 747 will be positioned as the main object in the building’s entry space, alongside some other aviation exhibits.
Following this, the Boeing 747 gifted to America by Qatar will be used as Air Force One.
It will also carry a very different paint scheme compared to the current airplane.

A golden escalator will be next to it, and the airplane will be embedded into the base of the building.
Supercar Blondie has been in touch with experts to work out how much this project could cost.
The history of the presidential aircraft
Of course, this Boeing 747 is not the first aircraft to be used as the presidential transport.
The term has been officially used since the 1950s, when Lockheed Constellation Columbine II became the first official Air Force One.
Since then, various aircraft have taken the role.

The Constellation served up until the end of President Eisenhower’s second term.
At this point, the jet age was underway.
Due to this, the United States Air Force procured three Boeing 707s to use as presidential transports.

SAM 970, nicknamed Queenie, was the first jet aircraft to fly an American president.
Thankfully, some of these aircraft, such as Columbine II, are preserved in 2026.
Since 1990, two Boeing 747s have been used as the presidential transports.
