It turns out that Airbus puts its jets through the ultimate water test.
The company produces some of the world’s premier aircraft.
Of course, it has to ensure that these airplanes are safe in the sky.
And a video has been released of Airbus jets showing just how much water they can withstand.

Water ingestion tests are extremely important
Airbus is the world’s biggest aircraft manufacturer.
It produces planes for every kind of purpose, from commercial jetliners to military support.
Being such an enormous manufacturer comes with an equally enormous responsibility.
All aircraft companies are subject to extremely stringent safety regulations.
And when you think about the lives at risk, it makes complete sense.

Recently, Airbus decided to demonstrate just how seriously it takes these obligations.
A major, yet often forgotten, component of safety regulations for aircraft is water ingestion.
These tests ensure that aircraft can perform safely when exposed to large volumes of water.
This can often occur when taxiing through standing water.
It can also occur when flying, taking off, or landing during heavy rain.
And with the level of electrical components involved in aircraft of any size, it makes the job both extremely important and dangerous.
Airbus publishes its water tests
As mentioned, Airbus recently conducted one of its water ingestion tests.
And it decided to publish said test on social media.
The video showcases a Qatar Airways A350 XWB getting ready for the test.
It then shows a crew undergoing extensive prep before testing the aircraft.
In a spectacular scene, the aircraft powers through a large puddle of surface water.
The engines and the electrical systems handle the water with absolute ease.
Everyone on the team is rightfully delighted about the success of the test.
But the seriousness of the safety regulations is at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

As soon as the test ends, Airbus engineers get to inspecting.
Every part of the engines, gears, and electrical wiring was inspected down to the last.
The aircraft was checked over extensively to make sure it had safely handled the test.
Thankfully, the aircraft was absolutely fine and handled water ingestion perfectly.
Check out the video above for yourself – if nothing else, it is extremely reassuring.
