Supercar Blondie drives new $10,000,000 supercar submarine that's 'Ferrari of the deep' and the speed blows her away

Alex Hirschi – aka Supercar Blondie – had the chance to test something that definitely isn’t a car, but is possibly even cooler: a U-Boat submarine.

Some people call it the Ferrari of the deep, and it’s easy to see why.

It’s one of the fastest submarines in the world.

But, interestingly, it is not even close to being the most expensive.

The reason why this submarine is called the ‘Ferrari of the deep’

Supercar Blondie took a break from supercars to drive something else entirely.

This is a U-Boat Worx SuperSub, a high-performance submarine designed for people who own both Rolls-Royce cars and Rolls-Royce-powered jets.

They call it the ‘Ferrari of the deep’ because as far as submarines go, this is pretty fast.

“Other subs? That’s like the Prius sub, and we’re like in the supercar sub,” Alex said in the video.

It can reach 10 knots (equivalent to 11.5 mph on land) and dive to depths of 300 meters.

Visually, the U-Boat is designed to resemble a fighter jet, and one of the most interesting features is the acrylic dome.

If this were a car you’d call this a canopy or a panoramic roof.

The submarine is fully maritime-certified, and it includes an emergency air-blow system to reach the surface in under 30 seconds.

This is very expensive, but it’s all relative

This submarine costs $10 million and yet, amazingly, this makes it significantly less expensive than a long list of cars.

In fact, if this were a car, it wouldn’t even make the top 10.

Most iterations of the Ferrari 250 are more expensive than that, and even some new vehicles – the Rolls-Royce Droptail, for example – have a much higher MSRP.

And $10 million looks like a bargain when you compare it to the most expensive car ever sold.

In May 2022, Mercedes-Benz sold (at a private auction) a 1955 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé for $142 million.

And the situation is even more dramatic when you look at submarines.

The USS Virginia, the baseline model of the ‘cheapest’ active US Navy submarine class, cost around $1.8 billion to build.
