This American is gutted that this really cool Chinese car is not actually available in the US.
The car is made by BYD, a well-known EV manufacturer.
But, whilst it boasts cool, high-tech features, they aren’t readily being distributed just yet.
The hybrid car has an impressive range and a slick, fitted inside cabin, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s no secret that China is ahead of the EV game.
The manufacturer has been releasing cars left, right, and centre, with gearheads lapping them up.
In fact, the company recently overtook Tesla in Europe for the first time in a ‘watershed moment’.
Plus, BYD recently launched two 1,100HP EVs in China that can charge 248 miles of range in five minutes – impressive, right?
Well, one US man managed to get his hands on a very particular Chinese car – a BYD‘s Song DM-i – and after getting a feel for the hybrid, was impressed.
Content creator @forrestsautoreviewsofficial took an in-depth tour of the car and had one thing to say.
“This car is really cool,” he said.

But the best part? For those who are forgetful and lose their keys, you won’t actually need them.
“You can leave your key at home and use NFC,” he explained, while tapping the wing mirror with his phone.
But his enthusiasm didn’t stop there. He also loved the range.
“This car is a plug-in hybrid, and on just the battery can do about 60 miles, which is more than any plug-in hybrid in America, and on a full charge and a full tank of gas, it can do well over 650 miles,” he explained
The car also offers all wheel drive, too – seriously, what’s not to love?

But, inside is where the magic really happens.
Inside the Chinese car, its plush cabin has a high-tech system in the front with a vertical screen, but, when you say a special command, it changes from portrait to landscape.
There’s also a digital display and built-in microphone for karaoke maestros.
“You get a panoramic roof,” he also detailed as he sat amazed.
The sad news, though? At the time of filming, it wasn’t available in America.
All of that being said, though, in 2024, the BYD Song Pro DM-i was launched in Mexico, so it’s not all bad.
