American buys the cheapest Tesla Model X in the US after massive depreciation and explains why it's the smartest financial move

This American YouTuber bought the country’s cheapest Tesla Model X, thanks to its massive depreciation, and explained why snapping up a luxury EV for a fraction of its original price can’t be beaten.

The 2020 Model X had lost close to $80,000 in value, despite still offering premium tech, long range, and standout design.

Features like Falcon Wing doors, air suspension, and self-driving capability make it even more of a bargain.

The YouTuber said the experience has completely changed his opinion on buying new Teslas.

Why Tesla prices have fallen so hard

EVs have been hit hard by depreciation, but the value of Teslas has fallen faster than most.

One major reason is how quickly EV technology evolves, with newer batteries, cameras, and charging improvements making older models feel outdated almost overnight.

Generous tax incentives also played a role; for years, buyers could get thousands back on new EV purchases, which made buying used far less attractive.

On top of that, concerns around battery degradation scared some buyers away, even though real-world losses are often not that bad.

The biggest blow came when Tesla aggressively cut prices on new cars.

As a result of all this, Model X vehicles that once sold for over $100,000 can now be found for close to $23,000, and this American YouTuber snapped one up for barely anything.

How this Tesla Model X became the best decision he could make

The purchase became even smarter thanks to tax advantages; because the Model X weighs over 6,000lbs, it qualified for a US Section 179 business deduction, as long as it’s used for business.

By writing off the full cost, the YouTuber reduced his out-of-pocket spend to just $14,490.

He bought it in a private sale, and a private sale also meant no sales tax, lowering the final cost even further.

Beyond the numbers, the Model X offers far more actual space and better range than a Model 3, making it more practical for long trips and hauling gear.

The YouTuber believed the car had already hit its peak depreciation, meaning it could be driven for years and sold without losing any money.
