Americans blown away by sheer power of Chinese Zeekr EV as they test it in USA

These Americans were blown away by the power of a Chinese Zeekr EV when they got to test drive it in the USA.

YouTube channel Out of Spec Reviews took a look at the Zeekr 001 FR.

This EV has been billed as being ‘wickedly fast’.

So what better way to introduce it to the US than by taking it out on some canyon roads and letting rip?

There have been a lot of exciting developments in the world of EVs recently, right?

It’s a fast-developing market, with tons of western manufacturers looking to make their mark – whether it’s Tesla or Toyota.

Even old classics like the DeLorean are being given a new lease of life with an EV makeover.

But it’s over in China where things are really ramping up.

Li Auto and BYD have been particularly busy pumping out EVs – none of which are currently available in the US, admittedly.

Also in the mix is Zeekr Intelligent Technology, which has been producing EVs since 2021.

More than 200,000 cars were made in 2024.

While you may not be familiar with the name, you’ve almost certainly heard of some of the cars – Waymo’s Robotaxi, for one.

Here at Supercar Blondie, we took the Zeekr 7X out for a spin, to get a feel for the fastest charging EV on the market.

Now, the YouTube channel Out of Spec Reviews was taking a look at another of the company’s cars – the 001 FR.

It’s powered by 930KW, the equivalent of 1,250HP.

“This is right up there at the top of what the Chinese market is offering,” Kyle, the video’s host, declared.

How would it do out on the winding canyon roads near San Jose, California?

Well, let’s just say, Boost Mode was quite the eye-opener.

If the car’s occupants had been cartoon characters, their eyes may well have popped out of their heads.

On the whole, Kyle enjoyed driving the 001 FR.

“Ever since I heard about this car launching at the end of 2023 […] it’s been a dream to have a go,” he said.
