You might have seen this Aston Martin prototype doing the rounds online, with a ton of speculation circulating about its origins – but it’s now been revealed to be a one-off track car for an American billionaire.

A now-deleted video of the car in action at an airfield was shared on TikTok, leading a whole host of speculation.

Was this an F1 car in the making? Or was it a hypercar prototype?

Thankfully, a German publication shed some light on the truth behind this mystery vehicle.

The truth behind this mystery Aston Martin prototype

German car website Auto Motor und Sport was the publication that cracked the case of this intriguing car.

The site reported that it was a one-off commission by billionaire Ken Griffin from Aston Martin Performance Technologies.

Griffin is the founder of Citadel LLC, a multinational hedge fund, and he has an estimated net worth of $51.2 billion.

That places him comfortably as the 34th richest person in the world.

He reportedly put in a request for Aston Martin to build him the ‘fastest race car in the world’.

Given the brand’s F1 reputation, this sounds like a task it was up for taking on.

Hopes of lap records linger in this car’s future, with it being suggested that this car is 10 seconds faster than the current generation of F1 cars.

Oh, and as if all of that wasn’t cool enough, this car has earned itself the nickname ‘Batmobile’ from online car enthusiasts.

There’s still a lot left to be learned about this Aston Martin prototype, but we’re sure we speak for everyone when we say we can’t wait to find out more.

It’s always exciting when a mystery car makes its way onto the internet

When a leaked image of a car makes its way onto the internet, there’s always an element of intrigue that follows it.

That was certainly the case when a Bugatti Chiron successor prototype image was leaked onto a German car forum.

Hopefully, we’ll be learning more about the ‘Batmobile’ soon enough.
