When this man passed away, his wife decided it would be wrong if nobody else got to enjoy his rare Chevy.

This 1957 Chevrolet Nomad has gone back on the market, with only 9,523 miles on the clock.

The car was restored a few years back, but hadn’t been given much attention otherwise due to the former owner’s ill-health.

Now it’s gone onto eBay, somebody else will have the chance to make some new memories with it.

This rare Chevy deserved to have a new owner

The Nomad was made by Chevrolet between 1955 and 1957.

It had the most powerful engines in the Chevrolet lineup, with the 1957 version in particular carrying a 283ci engine with 220hp.

This made it one of the most powerful station wagons of the decade.

Continuing low sales led to the Nomad being discontinued after the 1957 model.

The Nomad going for sale on eBay is one of 6,103 produced in 1957.

Based on the flame exterior, it’s fair to say that this car was a headturner.

With only 9,523 miles on the odometer, one thing is for sure – this car didn’t spend much time out on the roads.

That’s after 50 years with the same family as well.

Now that the owner has passed away, his widow decided it was only right that someone else would get to enjoy this well-preserved and rare Chevy.

While it was kept in good shape, it’s likely still in need of a bit of a refresh – the brakes will need to be redone, and the paint job is 50 years old at this point.

So that begs the question….how much is this car going for over on eBay?

Well, the auction begins at $40,000, and that doesn’t include a reserve.

Whoever is the highest bidder will win the car when the auction comes to an end later this week.

The Buy It Now option will set you back $70,000, if you don’t want to wait it out.

We love finding a great car on eBay

If you ever want to get a look at some hidden car gems, you need to spend more time on eBay.

The website is something of an automotive treasure trove, as this 1967 Grand Prix 428 Ragtop proved.

It’s not always a slam dunk, though, as the guys who bought a $1,000 Mitsubishi from the site found out the hard way.

And then there are external factors that complicate an eBay sale, like the car appearing on a famous MTV show.
