The Audi Concept C is an electric love letter to the TT

This is the Audi Concept C, an open-top, all-electric sportscar concept that many people will call the new Audi TT.

And we can totally see why.

The proportions are the same, even though this one is actually a lot bigger.

And it’s electric.

An ode to the past

The new Concept C is a nostalgic operation.

The name, for instance, is a tribute to the Auto Union Type C, one of the very first Audi vehicles back when the brand was actually called Auto Union.

The overall proportions honor the Audi TT, possibly one of the most recognizable sportscars ever built by the German brand.

To be fair, the Concept C is significantly larger.

The Concept C is 4520MM long, whereas the TT is 4100-4200CC depending on the model.

Then again modern cars are bigger, and this is electric, which means it needs a battery pack and an electric motor, and those tend to be larger than the old four-cylinder engine in the old TT.

Speaking of, even though this is just a prototype, it works.

It’s fully drivable.

At the front, the concept introduces a rectangular take on Audi’s grille, probably to give it a fresh look in line with the new electric era.

The four-ring badge, fortunately, is still there.

Audi is getting rid of that for some models, but not here (and we’re certainly happy about that).

The cabin carries echoes of the original TT, as well as other concepts such as the 2000 Rosemeyer.

Also, and once again we’d like to say ‘fortunately’, the interior also features rotary dials with physical buttons along with digital ones.

Is the Audi TT due a comeback?

The TT is one of the most beloved Audi models, but it hasn’t been replaced yet.

It was first unveiled in the late 1990s, and then discontinued in 2023 after three generations.

Most automakers are currently busy transitioning from internal combustion to electric power, which also means they sometimes put some of their most iconic models on hold.

Maybe that’s what happened with the TT.

And this new Audi Concept C is promising, and hopefully it heralds the arrival of a brand-new TT.

So definitely stay tuned for that.
