Barack Obama has inspired books, speeches, and statues, but did you know he has a gas station named after him?
The small Irish town of Moneygall, where Obama’s great-great-great-grandfather once lived, cheekily built a service station and named it after the former US president.
It’s not just a place to fill your tank either, as it’s a full-blown pit stop experience.
And what’s it called? Barack Obama Plaza.

While you may sometimes spot unusual things at gas stations, like a Hummer transporting a 2.5-ton Rolls-Royce on its roof, this is something different.
Located just off Ireland’s M7 motorway, this travel plaza is a mix of fuel pumps, fast food, and presidential pride.
Opened in 2014, the site features a visitor center that tells the story of Obama’s Irish roots.
You’ll also find a life-size statue of him and his wife Michelle.

However, it’s unlikely you’ll ever see him at the pump personally, given how former US presidents aren’t allowed to drive.
There are also photos, memorabilia, and a display dedicated to his 2011 visit to the town, when the then-president dropped by for a pint of Guinness.
Moneygall is a quiet village with fewer than 400 residents.
It became world-famous after genealogists traced Obama’s family tree to the area in 2007.
His ancestor, Falmouth Kearney, emigrated from the village to the US in the 1800s.
The connection sparked huge excitement locally, and Obama’s visit sealed the town’s status as a must-see stop for road-trippers and curious tourists alike.
Now, drivers cruising through County Offaly can pull over at the Barack Obama Plaza not just for petrol, but for some presidential vibes.

The plaza has become a popular stop for locals and tourists alike, blending American flair with Irish charm.
You can grab a burger, learn a bit of history, and snap a selfie with a bronze Obama.
Television host Conan O’Brien even visited the gas station in the Irish leg of his Max series, Conan O’Brien Must Go.

It’s not every day you find a gas station named after a US president in rural Ireland.
Locals even joke that the former president is the most famous Moneygall resident ever, despite never actually living there.
This place might not be the largest gas station in the world, but it’s special in its own way.
