A sighting of a black Ferrari F40 supercar in the Paris rain is so rare that it’s unlikely to be seen again.
On their Instagram page, Smoothracer posted some images of the super-rare F40 parked on the streets of Paris.
While many of us picture the F40 in the iconic Ferrari red, or even yellow, a black version of the supercar isn’t a common sight.
Most Ferrari F40s are likely garage queens. So, seeing one in the wild at all is something special.

The black Ferrari is a very rare sight
Ferrari never made an F40 in factory black, so this particular one has had a custom paint job.
The Instagram post speculates that it was either a bold custom or just a simple full-black respray of the car.
The entire supercar is in black, from the hood to the pop-up headlight covers, right back to the rear wing.
The wheel design looks to be original, suggesting someone has just decided they want the car in black.
Seeing one out in the wild is something to savor in its own right, even more so with this one being in Paris.
Many still regard the F40 as the finest Ferrari ever made.
The F40 is one of Ferrari’s finest supercars
The F40 will always hold a special place in the hearts of Ferrari fans.
It was the last car approved by Enzo Ferrari before he died in 1988.
It is also one of the most valuable in existence, with only 1,311 produced from 1987 to 1992.
As such, their value is incredibly high, with some often selling for well over $1 million.
Under the hood is the famous twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter Tipo V8.

This engine produces 477HP in US spec or 471HP in the rest of the world.
The average asking price for the F40 is around $1.5 million, but they can sell for much more.
According to Classic.com, the average value of the supercar is $2.4 million.
But one sold in August 2022 for $3.96 million.
With the supercar still incredibly popular, values could rise even further over the coming years.
Making this sighting extra special.
