The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE, BMW M3 CS, and Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo faced off in a half-mile drag race.

With the Taycan’s electric torque, the M3’s powerful launch, and the AMG’s hybrid powertrain, it was an impressive race.

But ICE purists might have a hard time watching the showdown.

The dream drag race lineup

Mercedes-Benz Downtown Calgary took three powerhouse cars to the track.

The Mercedes AMG C63 S changed the game with the most powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine ever created in an AMG.

The S E PERFORMANCE is even more impressive, with a hybrid powertrain, higher torque output, and extra electric motor.

It’s been dominated on the track before by rivals like the BMW M5, but this time it took on the M3 CS.

BMW’s M3 CS is the most powerful M3 of all time, able to sprint from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds.

Next was the Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, the only fully electric car on the lineup, producing 670 horsepower and a unique two-speed gearbox.

With each vehicle producing over 500 horsepower, the driving team decided the best way to test them would be the half-mile sprint.

They performed two races: one with a surprising winner and the second featuring a surprise fourth entry.

The half-mile showdown

While the Taycan boasts the most horsepower, it’s 5,225 pounds, making it the heaviest of the three.

The M3 CS is known for its impeccable launch control and calibration and is a relatively light 3,915 pounds.

Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid AMG C 63 offers 752 pound-feet of torque and weighs 4,711 pounds.

The conditions on the track were challengingly cold, but the Taycan had no trouble, dominating with a time of 17.48 seconds.

The M3 CS was a close second at 17.87 seconds while the AMG C 63 lagged, but only slightly, at 18.2 seconds.

They decided to carry out a rolling start drag race too, where the Taycan once again outpaced its rivals with ease.

The EV showed a far more impressive performance than the time a Revuelto that took on the Mazda Miata.

To make things fun, the crew threw a Corvette Z06 into the mix for the last race, but they may as well not have.

Because of the cold weather and its rear wheel setup, the Corvette was left in the dust.

That said, its handling and sound mean it’ll forever be a track-day favorite.
