This Florida man went above and beyond in ensuring his BMW M3 was kept safe during a hurricane.
When a hurricane rolls in, people will naturally think about how to protect their property from the elements.
Cars are particularly vulnerable in these circumstances.
For Randy Jalil, a self-described BMW enthusiast, the solution seemed obvious – move his car inside his house.

This Florida man had a novel idea on how to keep his BMW M3 safe during a hurricane
Jalil was living in Port St. Lucie, Florida, when Hurricane Matthew reached land back in 2016.
He wanted to keep his car safe from the ferocious weather that was heading his way, but he didn’t have any garage space to spare.
That’s when he and his dad came up with an ingenious solution.

Figuring that he could fit the vehicle through his front doors, he did some measuring with a tape to make sure things were exactly right.
Besides lowering the car a little, he didn’t have to do much to it, and it was rolled through the front door on wooden planks.
It was a job well done, although he would later admit to Petrolicious that his area ended up not being hit too hard by Hurricane Matthew.
“Luckily, it didn’t hit us that bad. It was just some high winds, which can still cause damage,” he said.

He shared a photo of the M3 sitting in his living room, which led to him going semi-viral.
“A lot of people reached out to me and have sent me messages like, ‘You, sir, are my hero. I’m really happy that you take care of that car. You really deserve that car,'” he recalled.
Off the back of his moment in the spotlight, he gained around 15,000 followers and became an automotive icon to people around the world, from Indonesia to Germany and Australia.
In 2019, he repeated the move with his BMW M3 when Hurricane Dorian came to town – with the addition of a Volkswagen GTI.
Old habits die hard, apparently.

Car owners work overtime to keep their cars safe in weather conditions
No matter where you live in the world, some turbulent weather is to be expected.
And with that comes the preparation needed to keep your possessions safe.
People have gone to some extreme lengths to keep their cars weather-proof.
One man in Florida – Notice a pattern? – took to wrapping his Chevy Corvette in plastic when a hurricane hit.
We do know that cars and hurricanes don’t mix well, as several Cybertruck owners testified to after Hurricane Helene.
And when you see lots filled with thousands of hurricane-damaged cars, you can understand why Floridians would take drastic action to keep their vehicles safe.
