The coachbuilt BMW Speedtop shooting brake, worth a rumored $577,000, sold out immediately after it was revealed earlier in 2025.

BMW took the covers off the amazing Speedtop in May 2025. It did so at the Villa d’Este, and also did so in a flash with no fanfare or advertising.

This remarkable coachbuilt car was instantly a hit, and that seemed to reflect in the sales too, due to how fast people placed an order for one.

Now, if you do want the car, you might have to wait for an auction several years down the line, as this incredible machine is now sold out.

How quickly did the BMW Speedtop sell out?

Attention was huge after BMW revealed the car in May 2025, and we were lucky enough to look at it back then.

The German car manufacturer revealed that the car would be sold to just 70 customers as a limited edition.

No sooner had the event finished than the company confirmed all of the cars had sold out.

While they never disclosed the price officially, it was rumored to be around the $577,000 mark.

BMW CEO Oliver Zipse said the car would be positioned ‘in a never-before-achieved price range.’

It sits alongside the incredible Skytop Roadster, which we got a look at in 2024.

This sports car also sold out rapidly after an unveiling in Milan, Italy.

The architecture that makes up the incredible coachbuilt shooting brake

Built in a shooting brake style, the coachbuilt BMW sits on the architecture of the 8 Series.

That means under the hood, it has a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, used in the M8 Competition.

This monster engine produces 617hp and 553lb-ft of torque.

Despite sitting on its platform, the Speedtop bears no resemblance to the car used as its basis.

While it’s only a limited-edition run of a concept, the shooting brake shows that more manufacturers should put them into production.

The Speedtop is so different from everything else in the BMW range, and it created a buzz when it was revealed.

Shooting brakes are also a dying breed, so to see another one is very refreshing.

Maybe if we wish hard enough, BMW may be tempted to make it a full production model, but that feels unlikely.
