A Boeing 747 glides above the clouds in one of aviation’s most breathtaking sights

This video of a Boeing 747 gliding above the clouds is one of aviation’s most breathtaking sights.

A clip of the plane in action was shared to Reddit, where it dazzled viewers.

This isn’t a view of planes we get to see a lot, which makes it all the more captivating.

It’s hard to imagine that there are people sat onboard this plane, relaxing blissfully on their way to a vacation.

This Boeing 747 was filmed in action gliding above the clouds

The video was shared to the subreddit Interesting by user JPPT1974, showing a 747 at cruising altitude.

For those of you not invested in the world of aviation, that’s a height of between 30,0000 and 42,0000 feet for commercial jets.

In other words, it’s the part of the flight where you’re watching a movie on the screen in front of you, ordering a drink, or having a mid-flight nap.

Who would have thought that while you were taking it easy, the plane you’re flying in was going at such speed?

At cruising altitude, a 747 goes at a speed of between Mach 0.85 to 0.86, which is approximately 568 to 570mph.

People love the sight of a plane in flight

Reddit users were left in awe by the video.

“This is the most realistic capture of speed.. From ground we don’t get to feel it,” one person wrote.

“I think about this sometimes when I’m a passenger, that we’re all in a tube hurtling through the air. This is a good visual,” another said.

Now that we think about it, these comments probably aren’t all too encouraging for people trying to get over a fear of flying.

“Love this vid, as we never can ‘feel’ and or see the real speed an aircraft of this size even if they are doing two times as fast as a Ferrari sometimes!” another person wrote.

Now there’s a thought – imagine something twice as fast as Ferrari on ground.

There may as well a plume of cartoonish dust behind it.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Boeing cruising through the sky, as footage captured from another plane demonstrated.
