Extremely rare look inside the Boeing E-4B 'Doomsday Plane' that's only for use in an apocalyptic scenario

This YouTuber provided people with an extremely rare look inside the Boeing E-4B named the ‘Doomsday Plane‘.

He did so by creating a detailed model that he digitally reconstructed through 3D modeling.

This wasn’t a look inside the actual plane itself, but let’s face it, let’s hope we don’t ever need to see the inside of that.

Because if that plane is being put to good use, it means something bad is happening.

The plane we usually associate with the US President is Air Force One

Presidential planes are usually a little more ‘out there’ than this.

We all recognize the call sign Air Force One, which applies to U.S. Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States.

It’s received a ton of attention in recent months, thanks to the controversy surrounding the Qatari-gifted Boeing 747.

In the weeks since it was officially unveiled, people have had the opportunity to look at its interior via the internet and social media.

Even the matter of what books sit on its shelves has come under scrutiny.

By way of comparison, the ‘Doomsday Plane’ has flown under the radar.

No pun intended.

Inside the Boeing E-4B called the ‘Doomsday Plane’

YouTube channel neo gave his viewers an in-depth look at the Boeing E-4B which was better known as the ‘Doomsday Plane’.

“Its nickname is not exaggerated, as the plane was made for nuclear war,” the host said.

“A plane built for the end of the world, designed to survive when everything else fails, able to command an entire war from the sky.”

A highly modified Boeing 747-200, this was created during the Cold War at a time of heightened nuclear threat.

The internal layout is divided into specialized zones.

Up at the front is the Command Office Suite, reserved for VIPs like the Secretary of Defense and the President during times of crisis.

Beyond that is the Conference Room, which seats nine, and Briefing Area, where the press would sit.

The largest room on the plane is the Battle Staff Area, which is where military staff tracks events and coordinate national emergency responses.

In the Communications Section, a distinctive hump on top of the plane contains a super high frequency antenna.

This is used to link directly with military satellites.

Another antenna is located in the belly of the plane, with communicates with submarines with its very low frequency radio waves.

But it’s not all business – there are areas above the plane in which crew can rest.

This Doomsday plane can withstand a nuclear war

The windows of the plane are covered in wire mesh to shield sensitive systems from electromagnetic pulses.

In the cockpit, analog controls dominate over digital screens.

This isn’t just a throwback move – this is to ensure vital instruments aren’t fried by electromagnetic pulses.

Thanks to mid-air refueling, the E-4B can stay up in the air for a week at a time.

The Us Air Force currently operates four E-4B aircraft.

For all of our sakes, we hope they don’t need to be rushed into action any time soon.
