A Boston man has test-driven a $1,000,000 Kimera EVO37 restomod based on the Lancia 037, and shared what blew him away about the supercar.

YouTuber Captain Crankshaft got his hands on the amazing car, which is a modern take on the iconic Lancia 037 that won the 1983 World Rally Championship.

The original Lancia 037 was the last two-wheel-drive car to win a World Rally Championship, and it beat the four-wheel-drive Audi Quattro in that 1983 season.

Kimera aimed to evoke the memory of the original rally car with its 037, and the Boston YouTuber was incredibly impressed by how good the car was.

What blew the YouTuber away about the Kimera EVO37?

Captain Crankshaft was full of praise for the restomod, saying it was the perfect recreation of the original Lancia.

The YouTuber also said that if you were a supercar manufacturer like Ferrari, you should be scared by the incredible Italian restomod.

What really blew him away about the car was that it combines everything good about the 037 with modern systems.

Features such as its beautiful styling, combined with technology, make it more drivable in 2025.

Crankshaft said the car has soul and personality, and feels very analogue in an increasingly digital world.

It is hard to argue with his perception of the car when you look at the details and specifications.

The beating heart of the Kimera restomod

Under the hood of the incredible restomod is a 2.1-liter twin-charged inline-four engine.

The engine uses the original Lancia engine block, but modern ancillaries.

It also has an unusual setup, using a Volumex supercharger and a turbocharger.

The supercharger helps to improve the low-end response time for the supercar.

Its turbocharger improves the performance at the top end of the curve.

The car produces around 500hp, and the Kimera makes a soundtrack that is as glorious as the original Lancia.

Outwardly, the car looks virtually identical to the original Lancia 037.

Place the two side by side, and you would be hard-pressed to tell them apart.

Since the standard car was released, Kimera has also created 37 tributes to the Lancia 037 in its iconic Martini Racing livery.

These limited-edition models are adorned with Martini stripes and the plain white of the iconic drinks brand.

Kimera has also evolved the design further with the mighty EVO38.

In all honesty, there probably isn’t another restomod on earth quite like the Kimera EVO37.
