Brazilian billionaire Roberto Irineu Marinho ditched his stunning $80 million Stella M superyacht in favor of an even more stunning $180 million model.
Marinho was the proud owner of the 2021 Amels that cost an eye-watering $80 million.
The media mogul renamed the vessel Stella M, in honor of his mother Stella Goulart Marinho.
However, just a few years on, he’s traded in his original superyacht for something even more incredible – but he’s held onto the heartfelt name.

The new $180m superyacht takes luxury to the next level
Marinho’s new superyacht was originally named Sakura and was created by Feadship.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s likely because the Dutch shipbuilder in one of the most highly regarded around, having previously built vessels for Bill Gates, WhatsApp founder Jan Koum, and the $120m yacht that belonged to Steve Jobs.

The Sakura is a Japandi-style vessel that was inspired by a cherry tree.
Incredibly, despite its $180,000,000 price tag, the superyacht was snapped up just six weeks after going on the market.
The 235-foot luxury vessel has since been renamed Stella M, with Marinho seemingly keen to keep that touching tradition alive.
As you’d expect from a multi-million dollar superyacht, Stella M is a very special boat.
The exterior of the ship was designed by Studio de Voogt, with interiors completed by FM Architettura.
Renderings shared by Feadship earlier this year revealed light and airy interiors with lots of warm wood elements.
Stella M houses seven cabins with enough room for 14 lucky guests.

The private owner’s deck is a particular highlight, boasting wraparound, floor-to-ceiling views, a breakfast nook, and even its own hot tub.
There’s also plenty of room to relax, with lounge areas, a wellness space, and a beach club – there’s even a seven-meter swimming pool, for those who want to swim but don’t fancy an ocean dip.
What became of the original Stella M?
The original Stella M has reportedly been renamed to Stella MI to avoid confusion with Marinho’s new luxe superyacht.
Earlier this month, Burgess confirmed that the vessel had found a new owner, selling for €71,500,000, around $82,700,000.
Although not as expensive as Marinho’s new yacht, the Stella MI is still an incredibly luxurious vessel featuring a beach club with sauna, and a huge sun deck with its own spa pool and bar.
