An American Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport owner revealed the staggering cost of replacing the key for the hypercar.

The Chiron Pur Sport is one of the fastest performance cars in the world, and The Desirable Truth YouTube channel met its owner, Wes Watson.

Interviewing him in the street, Watson revealed the crazy cost of replacing the key should it ever be lost.

Given that the Chiron Pur Sport already costs several million dollars, we can’t imagine anything on top of that is too much of an ordeal for its owners.

Right off the bat, Watson revealed how much a replacement key costs for the supercar.

Incredibly, Bugatti will charge you $18,000 should a key ever break or be lost by the car’s owner.

Watson said in the video the whole car cost him $5.5 million, so the key really isn’t anything compared to that.

But take the price of the key in isolation, and it’s clearly not a small amount of money.

The owner of the supercar says he has already paid $2.2 million for it.

The rest will be paid in $65,000-a-month installments.

Insurance is $1,600, so clearly, nothing associated with a Bugatti Chiron is cheap.

Given the performance of the Chiron Pur Sport, it’s no surprise that Watson decided to buy one.

Like other Bugatti supercars, it has an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine.

That mighty engine makes 1,500HP and around 1,180LB-FT of torque.

Thanks to its massive engine, the 0-60MPH time is just 2.3 seconds, and the top speed of the car is 217MPH.

Prices for the Pur Sport could vary.

It starts at around the $4 million mark, but as Watson showed, that can go even higher.

The Pur Sport was a handling-focused version of the Chiron, limited to a highly exclusive 60 units.

The maximum revs available increased by 200RPM, meaning the Pur Sport could redline at 6,900RPM.

Thanks to its track focus, the Pur Sport is also 110LBS lighter than the regular Bugatti Chiron.

As we have seen, however, just don’t lose the car’s key, as it’s not exactly cheap to get a new one!
