BYD has shared incredible footage of its Yangwang U9 jumping over rows of razor-sharp spikes and dodging potholes on the road in real-time.
Released in 2024, the U9 is the second offering from BYD’s luxury subsidiary, Yangwang.
Last summer, the U9 Xtreme variant officially became the fastest production car in the world, with a top speed of 308mph.
But it offers a lot more than just speed, as the video above shows.

The Yangwang U9 is able to ‘soar six meters’ on its own
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you crossed a robot with a car, then the Yangwang U9 might be able to give you a bit of an idea.
BYD has recently shared a video showcasing the EV’s ability to ‘jump’ over obstacles on the road, and it makes for very impressive viewing.

In the clip, the U9 can be seen traveling at speeds of 74.5mph along a road that’s pitted with potholes and a large section of spikes.
As the car approached the first pothole, it lurched into the air, covering a distance of around 19.6ft, before landing back on the ground and carrying on along the route.
Next up, it was met with a series of spikes, but they also proved to be no match for the U9, which simply soared over them, leaving its wheels unharmed.

To make the already impressive stunt all the more incredible, the Yangwany U9 does this all entirely autonomously.
“No driver. No hesitation,” BYD wrote in a caption alongside the clip.
The car has also been seen turning a busy road into a dance floor
The Yangwang U9 isn’t just able to jump, it’s also been seen ‘dancing’ out on the street in China.
The car is fitted with smart electrically-controlled suspension, which means that it can leap over potholes and spikes, or put on a bit of a performance on a busy road.

In a clip that was shared online back in 2024, a red U9 can be seen dancing at a set of traffic lights.
