This EV driver was left seriously impressed after trying out the ultra-fast EV charger from BYD, which is almost as fast at refueling as a gas car.
The Chinese carmaker unveiled its next-generation lighting-fast charger back in March.
The BYD Super e-Platform allows charging at speeds of up to 1,000kW, which is twice as fast as the Tesla Supercharger.
In real terms, this means you can add around more than 200 miles of range in just five minutes.

The ultra-fast EV charger from BYD left one motorist seriously impressed
When it was launched, BYD CEO Wang Chuanfu acknowledged that ‘charging anxiety’ was holding some motorists back from making the swap from ICE vehicles to EVs.
“The ultimate solution is to make charging as quick as refueling a gasoline car,” Chuanfu said.

And the carmaker has already made a huge step to realize that goal.
The BYD Super e-Platform can add an impressive 248 miles of range in just five minutes.
Currently, the ultra-fast EV charger is compatible with two of BYD’s cars: the Han L and the Tang L.
According to BYD the Han L can go from 10 percent battery to 70 percent in six minutes, and can be fully charged in 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, a full charge for the Tang L takes about 30 minutes using the Super e-Platform.
With the vehicles now out and about on the roads in China, owners have been showing off the impressive charging speeds.
One EV driver called Dominic Lee recently shared a clip of his BYD EV at a charging station, where the car charged to around 70 percent in four minutes and 40 seconds.

Sharing the clip on X, where it has since racked up more than 780,000 views, Lee joked: “Gasoline what?”
The BYD Super e-Platform is heading to Europe
For now, the BYD Super e-Platform has only been rolled out in China.
However, as the carmaker’s popularity has skyrocketed in the European market in recent months, it is now set to introduce its ultra-fast EV charger system to countries throughout Europe.
Earlier this year, the marque announced plans to roll out between 200 and 300 of its chargers in Europe by mid-2026.
As yet, the company hasn’t shared plans to bring them over to the US.
