The CEO of Karma Automotive has explained why he’s happy his company sold just 146 cars last year, and his reasoning makes good sense.
The luxury carmaker is a relatively new player in the industry, having been founded in 2014.
The company has a handful of production models in its lineup, including the Revero and its G S Series.
Last year, its total sales amounted to fewer than 150 units, but CEO Marques McCammon has explained why the company is happy about that figure.

The Karma Automotive CEO believes sometimes less is more
Unlike many of the big names in luxury cars, Karma Automotive is a privately held company with origins that go back to the now-defunct Fisker.
The carmaker sells vehicles in a number of markets worldwide, including the US, South America, and Europe.

However, unlike some EV-makers – we’re looking at you, BYD – Karma’s cars don’t sell in huge numbers.
Last year, it delivered just 146 units, but the marque’s CEO is more than happy with that number.
McCammon recently sat down with The Autopian, where he explained why selling fewer cars was all part of Karma’s appeal.
“We want the cars to be scarce, and we want them to be exclusive, so that every time that you own a Karma, you can say, ‘I have number X of this model year, there was only this many built in this color.’,” he told the publication.

“That’s part of the experience.”
McCammon went on to say that any of its 146 customers last year will know exactly how many similar vehicles were created that year, right down to the color and wheel configuration.
And it makes sense.
Exclusivity is the reason that exotic carmakers, like Bugatti, kept their own production numbers low.
The carmaker is working on three new vehicles
Until now, the Karma Automotive lineup has basically consisted of redesigned Revero models.

But that’s all set to change, as the marque is launching three brand-new vehicles: Amaris hybrid, the Kaveya EV, and the Ivara SUV.
McCammon said the trio of new cars will take the company well into the next decade.
However, if you’re thinking that more variety might bring bigger production numbers, then think again, because the CEO has confirmed that Karma will still keep production volume low to maintain exclusivity.
