“Wanna play a game?” It might land you an Edison Future California EV van that isn’t even on the market yet.
Steering clear of Gollum, The Riddler, and Saw, riddles are usually quite harmless puzzles that start with a headscratcher and end with pride.
But this carmaker is ending its puzzle with a prize.
No, not a ring of power like Bilbo, but rather the first-ever drive in a brand-new California EV van.

Edison Future is selling its only California EV van for a steal
Edison Future – not to be confused with the Tesla Semi-truck rival Edison Motors – was once slated to make the ‘Cybertruck killer‘.
The California EV van, named the EF1-V, was set to be a highly technical delivery truck, using a solar panelled roof to help power its motor.
But as you might have guessed from the past tense here, Edison Future’s van appears to be nothing but a forgotten concept.

It appears that the parent company, The Hamilton Group, has pulled the plug on the two vehicles that it was producing, and is now selling off all of its assets, including its only van prototype.
The prototype was found listed on BidSpotter, with, at the time of writing, a highest bid of $5,250.
It has no title and isn’t ‘running’.
The Hamilton Group is also selling off everything from forklifts to solar panels and pallet boxes. There is also a solar trailer and spare truck doors on the listings.
It’s certainly not easy to make a ‘Cybertruck killer’, especially when there are multiple trucks and vans eyeing to dethrone the Tesla.
But you need to beat The Riddler to drive it

If you want to own the California EV van, you will need your wits about you, though.
Not only is it not road legal, given it has no title, but you will have to crack some riddles to even get it to move.
First off, my precious, you’ll need to figure out how to make it run. There’s very limited information as to the state of the van and whether it has ever moved before.
Maybe this is a quick fix, maybe it needs an entire motor and battery overhaul.
Then, what are you going to do with a non-titled van? It might well scream out ‘burger van’, and that solar panel could go a long way to powering your cooker, but that really would be a sorry affair for a once-promising prototype.

Unfortunately, unless you’re a company the size of BYD, it looks to be a massive struggle to overthrow Tesla, and this Canadian EV van isn’t going to be the assassin it was once hoped to be.
