It wasn’t the landing anyone expected, but a California man was left stunned when a hot air balloon carrying 13 strangers touched down right in his backyard.

The bizarre moment unfolded in Temecula when the peaceful morning was interrupted by a full basket of people descending from the sky.

What should have been a scenic ride quickly turned into an unforgettable emergency landing in some guy’s garden.

And somehow, despite the chaos, the whole thing ended without a single injury – and you can catch the unbelievable real-life moment in the footage below.

He was shocked to find a hot air balloon with 13 strangers in his backyard

Imagine opening your back door and finding a hot air balloon, parked on your lawn.

That’s exactly what happened to homeowner Hunter Perrin, who said he was alerted when a neighbor knocked on his door to tell him what had just happened.

“I open the sliding glass door, and there’s a basket full of thirteen people in my backyard!!” he recalled.

The giant balloon had drifted into the residential area after running into trouble mid-flight, turning an ordinary Saturday into something straight out of a movie.

Even more surreal, the group of passengers was apparently just as shocked as the homeowner, with some waving casually as if nothing unusual had happened.

It was an emergency landing

As wild as it looked, there was a good reason behind the unexpected touchdown.

According to reports, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after the wind suddenly dropped, leaving the balloon without enough momentum to steer to a safer spot.

With limited fuel and no wind to guide them, the pilot had to act fast and bring the balloon down wherever possible.

Incredibly, the landing was executed so smoothly that there was no damage to the property and no injuries among the 13 people on board.

Passengers later praised the pilot’s skill, with one calling the landing ‘safe and sound’ despite the unusual setting.

As for the homeowner, it’s safe to say this is one backyard story that’s going to be hard to top.
