California man buys two abandoned shipping containers for $25k after spotting them on Google Maps and isn't ready for wild haul he finds inside

This California YouTuber bought two abandoned shipping containers he had originally spotted on Google Maps, and he wasn’t ready for what was inside them.

One of the containers hid enough goods to cover the initial cost about five times over.

The other one was less valuable, but arguably more fun.

Plus, there was an unexpected bonus inside.

These abandoned shipping containers ‘only’ cost $25,000

On the face of it, these containers were a shot in the dark.

California YouTuber Brent Rivera had to rent a boat to investigate the area, and then he had to agree to pay $25,000 for the right to open the containers and inspect the contents.

It was a gamble, but it ended up being money well spent.

The first one alone was a treasure trove as valuable as a new sports car.

Rubber duckies were involved

The first thing they found was an alligator.

As in a real alligator, which wouldn’t be so common in California, where Rivera is from, but it is common in the southeastern United States, where this was filmed.

“If there was a real alligator in this container, what else could be hiding inside?” Rivera joked.

After finding a real animal, they found a few fake ones: rubber duckies.

While it wasn’t exactly the most valuable item here, one of these two abandoned shipping containers was apparently ‘home’ to a vast collection of rubber duckies.

Even though many people collect them, they aren’t super valuable.

But they’ll certainly make you smile.

And that smile grew wider when Rivera found a tactical hunting crossbow and a Mercedes jet car.

The jet car is worth something, but more importantly you can certainly get a lot of ‘smiles-per-mile’ riding the waves.

But what was truly valuable was in the first container.

The first container’s haul was worth $100,000+

According to the shipping manifest, the first container held cargo worth around $112,000 in total.

Brand-new Nintendo Switches, brand-new iPads, drones, an underwater scooter, and the list goes on.

The container was sealed, but obviously, you’d still have to check if they work.

And presumably, some of these items are last-generation and no longer valuable as new.

But, with a bit of luck, he’s certainly going to make his money back.

Even though, apparently, they’re going to give everything away.

“Holy cow, this is full of Nintendo Switch. You know what? This is way too many for us, so we’re going to give some away to our subscribers,” Rivera said.

Which is nice of them.
