This Canadian used a Volkswagen Bus and an Airbus H12ST to create a VW helicopter.
Chuck Jurgen Teschke works in aircraft maintenance, but wanted to take this one as a passion project.
The final look is nothing short of remarkable.
It won’t be able to fly, but it’ll make heads spin, and that’s what counts.

We’ve seen a lot of kooky DIY projects over the years.
Some North Idaho YouTubers made a Big Wheel bike using a tractor tire, while another team turned an ambulance into a camper van.
And who could forget the mini Corvette created from a child’s bed?
Well, they’re certainly quirky.

But they’re not ‘Volkswagen Bus turned into a helicopter’ quirky.
That’s exactly what Chuck Jurgen Teschke did.
He took the Volkswagen T1 and combined it with an Airbus H125 to turn it into a VW helicopter.
Teschke’s 38 years of aircraft maintenance experience clearly paid off.
However, the helicopter doesn’t fly, which is a shame.

How much would you love to see a Volkswagen bus flying through the air?
But no, the helicopter will be sitting in his yard, drawing glances from neighbors and generating a lot of conversation at his next barbecue.
The process started with a blueprint of an Airbus H125.
From there, he tracked down a donor aircraft that had been scrapped, then brought in a beaten-up VW Bus T1.
Blending the bus with the helicopter’s rear fuselage was a challenge, but Teschke got it done.

The front headlights were also enlarged, and extra windows were added to the roof.
Those iconic sliding doors were gone, but the spacious insides remained.
Although it doesn’t have the rotor blades on yet, it still very much looks the part of being a helicopter.
However, it won’t be taking to the skies any time soon.
A combination of physics and regulations is keeping this project firmly grounded.
People on his Instagram are big fans of the project at any rate.

“This one is definitely a work of art! [It would] be a hit at any airshows in the static display area,” one follower gushed.
“So cool if she was airworthy too! Doesn’t matter, she’s a work of art!” another admirer said.
