Canadian couldn't afford a million-dollar Bugatti so spent $100,000 building one himself out of trash

This Canadian YouTuber turned an old Pontiac G6 into a DIY Bugatti Chiron.

He did it using a lot of money, around $100,000 to be exact, but more importantly his wits.

For example, there’s a very clever reason why he chose the Pontiac for his DIY supercar.

And the result was out-of-this-world impressive.

Building a DIY Bugatti was not easy

Canadian YouTuber Steven Song couldn’t afford to spend $3.4 million on a Bugatti Chiron, which is why he decided to build one from scratch.

To kick the project off, he bought a decrepit Pontiac G6 from a junkyard and then spent around $100,000 rebuilding it and turning it into a DIY Bugatti.

He chose the Pontiac, which looks nothing like a Bugatti, for two reasons.

First, it is roughly the same size as the Bugatti and second, it has a metal frame that he can weld directly onto.

He started by modifying the chassis and he then created the bodywork, which was a very lengthy process.

He used a combination of various materials, including epoxy and fiberglass, which he also used for the interior.

Interestingly, Steven didn’t say anything about the engine, so we’re going to assume it still uses the Pontiac’s original V6.

Engine aside, the result is impressive.

It wouldn’t fool Bugatti’s head of design Frank Heyl, but it still looks good.

DIY supercars are getting hard to spot

YouTubers regularly build DIY supercars and hypercars, often from scratch.

They do it because it’s fun, but also because YouTube clearly loves this type of content.

When it comes to DIY supercars, Truong Van Dao is probably the most famous creator on YouTube.

He built an entire fleet of wooden supercars for his son, including a 6×6 Rolls-Royce Phantom, a replica of the Audi Skysphere concept, and a Bugatti Centodieci.

He even built a DIY Cybertruck.
