American country star Carrie Underwood has revealed what happened to the blue Mustang muscle car from Ford that she took home after the fourth season of American Idol.
In 2025, she returned to the hugely popular show, as she looked to give further contestants the same exposure that helped her become a success over 20 years ago.
Underwood won the fourth season of the show and took home a Ford Mustang as part of her winnings.
The win was enough for her, but the muscle car was a nice extra, and she revealed in an interview just what had happened to her Mustang.

The blue Mustang held huge sentimental value for Carrie Underwood
Underwood sat down with Today’s Country Radio for an interview in 2020, and of course, she discussed the show.
It gave her an amazing opportunity, introducing her to the world, and she has since gone on to win several Grammys and CMAs.
The music star has also secured several No.1 hits during that time.
But the Mustang is real, tangible proof of her time on the show and what she was able to achieve.
During the interview, she spoke about the muscle car.
“That was the car that I was driving around when I first moved to Tennessee,” she recalled.

What Underwood did with her Ford Mustang
In the same interview, Carrie Underwood revealed the fate of the Mustang.
“I do still have the car that I won when I won American Idol. So I have my blue Mustang.
“And every once in a while, something will happen where I’ll have my other car getting serviced or whatever, and I’ll get to drive the Mustang.”
So far from selling it or giving it away, she decided to keep the famous Ford.
Driving it actually brings out a whole host of emotions for the famous singer.
“It always makes me want to drive it more because it was such a pivotal point in my life,” she added.
“Every time I get in it, I’m always like, ‘Why don’t I just drive this more often?’ just because it makes me feel good.”
Underwood was actually shown driving the car on the show in March 2025.
There is something to be said for simply feeling good while driving a particular car.
It holds such a special place in her heart.
So it is easy to see why she will never let go of her Ford muscle car.
