American in Michigan buys cheapest Cessna Turbo 210 sight unseen and attempts 1,600-mile flight across the country in one day, facing unexpected incident

This guy bought the cheapest Cessna Turbo 210 he could find, sight unseen, and decided to take it for a spin on his way back home from Michigan.

After snapping it up for a neat price, he decided to test it on a 1,600-mile journey on his way home.

He bought the plane in Michigan and flew it back to Arizona.

There was an unexpected problem right from the start, but it all went well in the end.

One of the cheapest Cessna planes you can buy

Jeffrey, the guy behind the JR Aviation YouTube channel, traveled to Michigan to buy a Cessna Turbo 210, sight unseen, to fly it back home to Arizona.

The engine in the Cessna produces 285 horsepower, which is alright for a six-cabin plane that weighs 1,450lbs.

It all looked promising, but Jeffrey wasn’t off to a good start.

A nearby tail-dragger plane had an unexpected problem on the runway, forcing Jeffrey to switch runways at the last second.

For reference, a tail-dragger is a plane with two main wheels forward and a small wheel to support the tail, with the nose pointing into the sky from the get-go.

That was a bit tense, but it was also the only significant problem Jeffrey faced.

Amazingly, despite being so cheap, around $40,000, the plane was mechanically sound and managed to get him home safely.

Can you buy a plane on a budget?

The short answer is yes.

It is theoretically possible to buy airplanes on a budget.

For example, there’s a guy who managed to find an abandoned 1947 Cessna for just $10,000, and another savvy spender bought a plane on Facebook Marketplace for a steal.

But, buying cheap comes with challenges – and this man warned people to not go near budget sites including eBay to purchase planes.

At the end of the day, buying a used plane is like buying a used car, except it is a lot
