Buying a Ferrari F355 might sound like a dream come true, especially if you’ve always wanted to own a supercar.
But one car enthusiast named Tyler Hoover recently discovered that dreams can quickly turn into nightmares.
The realization came when he discovered what was lurking beneath the surface.
The Ferrari F355, which he considered beautiful and desirable, became more of a hard-learned lesson for him when he realized the extent of the car’s issues.

Buying the cheap Ferrari F355 with major issues
This story was brought to light by YouTuber Hoovies Garage, where the buyer shared his shocking discovery of just how flawed and problematic his ‘cheap’ Ferrari F355 truly was.
At first glance, the supercar seemed like an amazing deal.
However, when Tyler dug deeper, more and more issues emerged.
There were oil leaks, a malfunctioning top, and a persistent misfire.
Surprisingly, despite only having around 33,000 miles on the clock, its condition was far worse, similar to the worst McLaren that a YouTuber bought some time ago.
The oil leaks turned out to be the biggest headache for Tyler.
Even after a major clutch replacement costing around $7,000, these leaks persisted.
The valve cover gasket was the main cause of the leaking oil. The headers also had faulty gaskets, making the leaks worse.
The top mechanism didn’t work well either, causing interior damage and poor performance.
Buying the supercar cheap wasn’t worth it
The power steering rack leaked fluid too, further adding to the issues.
While the F355 had more advanced features, its engine made loud, rough noises, unlike the quiet 348 engine.
While the Ferrari F355 had upgraded features, the consistent mechanical issues outweighed its potential benefits.
It was a lesson for Tyler that what looks good on the outside might not always be as great on the inside – which is exactly what the owner of this old Mercedes-AMG GT had to learn.
