The American who snagged a cheap McLaren thanks to a mistake on Copart has found some strange items inside it during the rebuilding process.
YouTuber Ed Gasket hit the jackpot when he secured a 2016 McLaren 570S at a salvage auction for $64,000, approximately half of its pre-crash value.
Now that he had the car, it was time to get to work.
But along the way, there was time to take stock at what had been left inside the car.
Getting a cheap McLaren on Copart was the easy part
You may recall the story of Ed Gasket and his inexplicably cheap McLaren 570S.
YouTuber Ed Gasket had come across a crashed lime-green McLaren 570S out in Las Vegas.
Through some investigation, he found that there had been a mistake while listing it.

it’d been listed as ‘Starts’ – which essentially means that the engine would fire up, but that’s about it.
In reality, the car should probably have been listed as a ‘Run and Drive’ vehicle.
Therefore, Gasket was able to buy it for a cheaper price than it should have gone for.
Getting it off the trailer and onto his driveway wasn’t without its complications, but he had it.
So it was time to get to work.

When it came to rebuilding this car, Ed sourced a lot of parts through eBay, saving a ton of money in the process.
For the quarter panel, he only paid $900, compared to the $2,100 that he would have shelled out had gone through a dealership.
But it wasn’t just savings that were coming his way.
Because during the process, he found some items that had been left behind by the previous owner.
In the passenger seat was a Beanie Baby named Turbo, which is quite fitting considering where he’d ended up.

Then there was a stick of deodorant, a battery pack, and some car cologne.
Yeah, you read that right – cologne for cars.
Maybe air fresheners just aren’t cutting it anymore.
“Unlike my Evo rebuild, I didn’t find any drugs in the backseat,” Ed noted.
“But I did find a toothbrush and lipstick.

“I feel like this guy leads a more exciting life than I do.”
At any rate, the items had been placed into a cardboard box destined to be sent back to the original owner.
Perhaps he could get some additional use out of the car cologne and find a new home for Turbo.
You never know what you’ll find inside some cars
Cars, especially when they’ve come from previous owners, can be vessels of mystery.
All sorts of items have turned up inside them over the years.
Our very own Supercar Blondie, aka Alex Hirschi, found a $60,000 surprise waiting inside a Pagani Huayra.

But not all surprises are so nice.
The less said about the Honda Acura NSX with mice inside of it, the better.
