This guy bought the cheapest McLaren he could find, a McLaren 650S Spider, for a shockingly low price.

He bought it from eBay for just $38,500, which sounds like the bargain of the year.

Since then, he’s been carefully repairing, restoring, and reviving the McLaren to get it back to its former glory.

He recently tracked down a suitable engine for the McLaren, and that also cost him a lot less than he expected.

Probably the cheapest McLaren in the world

The Inja, a YouTuber some of you may remember for the saga about  the fake $31,000 electric sports car from China, has been sharing regular updates on the McLaren on his channel.

In a recent post, he revealed he’d tracked down an engine and was now ready to fit it.

He’s spent $21,000 on the engine, and if it works, he’ll have bought a usable 650S Spider for about $60,000.

After getting the engine installed, the YouTuber admitted to feeling more than a little bit nervous.

“My heart is pounding, I don’t think I even need to explain how big of a moment this is for the project.

“This is kind of a make or break,” he said in the video.

‘Don’t try this at home’

This sounds like a ‘don’t try this at home scenario’, and it probably is.

There’s always a risk when buying something online.

Not long ago, we covered the saga of a guy who bought a $1,000 Mitsubishi from eBay sight unseen only to discover it would take years to restore.

Amazingly, the Inja actually pulled it off, and he’s now got a six-figure McLaren 650S Spider that cost $60,000.

It still needs a lot of work, especially the body, but we’d still call this a win.
