Chevrolet's California Corvette Concept makes everything that's come before look like a child's push chair

General Motors has just unveiled this stunning Chevrolet California Corvette concept, and its bolder and meaner than everything that’s come before it.
General Motors asked several of its design studios to come up with bold, forward-thinking concepts for the Corvette – and this one absolutely nailed the brief.
The gorgeous design concept is a one-of-one hypercar that ‘reimagines the Corvette with a futuristic, Southern California twist’.
The dramatic concept is able to easily transform from a sports car to a track vehicle. What more could you want?

We’ve already seen some beautiful Corvette concepts this year, like this one dreamed up by a designer in India, or this one created by the newly opened UK General Motors design studio.
However, the Chevrolet California Corvette concept might just be the best one we’ve seen yet.
The concept came from the team at GM’s Advanced Design studio in Pasadena and it’s the sort of stuff gearheads dream of.
“Our Advanced Design teams are dedicated to shaping the future, driving innovation, and exploring what’s possible,” GM’s vice president of global design Bryan Nesbitt said.
“The California Corvette concept is another example of forward-thinking design.”
The hypercar has dramatic exterior proportions, which are wide at the wheels with a narrow, tapered cabin and a narrow cockpit.
But perhaps the most exciting part is the single-piece, front-hinged cockpit canopy that can be easily removed, turning the Chevrolet California Corvette from a slick sports car to an open-air track-ready racer.
Inside, the hypercar concept features a minimalist interior that’s centered on the driver and the driving experience with integrated structural elements and performance-focused displays.
It even has an augmented reality HUD that displays only the most essential driving information.
Sadly, the design concept is just that: a design concept, and there are no plans for it to go into production… but who knows what the future holds? We’d certainly love to see it out on the roads one day.
General Motors design studios have created incredible concepts
General Motors has design studios scattered across the globe.
Alongside Pasadena, which is responsible for the Chevrolet California Corvette, there are studios in Detroit, Shanghai, Seoul, the UK, and Los Angeles.
