This Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 took on a Shelby GT500, a Hellcat Redeye, and a Z06
Video of the exciting showdown was shared on the Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel.
On a quarter-mile dragstrip, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 took on some formidable foes.
There was the S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, a couple of Dodge Challengers – among which was a Hellcat Redeye – and a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Sometimes drag races can feel like a foregone conclusion, where you know which car is going to win from the off.
But this was genuinely hard to call.
First up, it was taking on the GT500.
With the ZL1 operating at 650hp compared to the GT500’s 760hp, you might think this was an open-and-shut case. Or an open-and-shut race, as it were.

But it wasn’t a slam dunk at all. In fact, mere milliseconds decided this race – the ZL1 coming in at 10.484 seconds, whilst the GT500 clocked in at 10.488.
Talk about winning it by an inch.
When it came time to take on a black Dodge Charger, the finish was similarly tight – 10.9 seconds for the Camaro and 11.46 seconds for the Dodge.
Up against the Hellcat Redeye, the Camaro pulled ahead at an impressive 8.62 seconds, leaving the Redeye with 10.2 seconds.
So far, so good for the Camaro.

But what about in the final showdown against a C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06?
Once again, it was a win for the Camaro but a remarkably close one – 9.42 seconds against 9.59 seconds.
All of these races were incredibly tight, and could have gone either way.
Drag races are partly a matter of luck, but they are undoubtedly decided by skill and timing.
Drag races are always exciting
When it comes to drag races, you’re never quite sure what to expect.
Sometimes you get taken by surprise.
That was what happened when this Lamborghini Aventador and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N EV faced off.
But sometimes the results are so clear-cut that little doubt is left on which car was the victor.
When a Tesla Cybertruck and a gas-powered Ram TRX competed, it was a total slam dunk.
And when multiple Dodge Challengers raced a Chevrolet Corvette C8, it was a similarly stark result.
Ditto for the Cybertruck and Hummer EV showdown.
