This 1957 Chevy Bel Air has been given a ferocious rebuild, dubbed the ‘Hellair’ because of its powerful new engine.
The stunning Chevrolet spent seven years being completely overhauled by the team from American Legends Hot Rods and Muscle Cars in Phoenix, Arizona.
Now, the car looks as good as it did the day it rolled off the production line.
And it’s hiding a seriously powerful engine under its hood.

The stunning Chevy Bel Air was given a complete rebuild
There’s something wonderfully satisfying about seeing an old car being given a new lease on life by the experts – such as this 1969 Camaro that was spruced up and reunited with its owner decades later or this gorgeous 1987 Pontiac Firebird that’s been lovingly restored by a grandma and her grandson.
In Phoenix, Arizona, the guys from American Legends Hot Rods and Muscle Cars took on the restoration of this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air more than seven years ago.

The car has been given a slick makeover with fresh ‘Cadillac Black Diamond’ paintwork and Crimson Red interiors.
The Chevy looks sleeker than ever as the body is completely devoid of door handles, hood rockets, emblems, and that original upper quarter trim – giving the whole vehicle a neater appearance.
Inside has been brought up to date thanks to a new bluetooth sound system, paired with 12 JL Audio speakers and a 10-inch subwoofer; climate control; power windows; and a new steering wheel from Billet Specialties.

But as well as giving the car a stunning new look, they also hid a very cool surprise under the hood.
The Bel Air – sorry Hellair – is now kitted out with a 6.6-liter Duramax LMM diesel V8, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, giving over 1,000 lb-ft (1,254 Nm) of torque and 634 horsepower.
The engine was built and tuned by Hausmann’s Diesel Performance, who turned the beautiful vintage motor into a powerful beast.
