China has created an incredibly futuristic EV scooter.
Meet the Omo X – an all-new offering from Chinese start-up Omoway.
The new Omo X was recently shown off for the first time in Jakarta.
And it’s so futuristic that people are debating whether it should even be called a scooter.

Omoway unveils Omo X electric scooter
Omoway is the China-based startup responsible for this latest EV scooter effort.
For the past few years, the EV scooter has long been considered something of a novelty.
Its appeal has often been limited to students or those running city errands.
But the perception has shifted enormously in the course of the last few years, and that’s happened for a few reasons.
Today’s EV scooter is much more powerful, agile and nimble compared to those of the past.
In fact, some attempts at the EV scooter have gotten close to being legit motorcycles.
And Omoway is the latest company to have an attempt at it – with the Omo X.
At its launch event in Jakarta, the Omo X actually drove itself onstage.

Built using Omoway’s Halo architecture, the Omo X comes with features found in high-end cars.
It comes with a Halo Pilot system that enables adaptive cruise control.
It also has low speed self-balancing, one-touch parking and even remote summon.
But the Omo X comes with a major feature that really sets it apart from the rest.
Its modular design means that the frame can be adapted to suit different riding styles.
Users can switch between a relaxed layout, a more aggressive, straddle-style setup – or even a long-range touring setup.
Why Omoway could change the industry
Omoway might be a company that you haven’t heard of yet.
But it’s a company with quite a lot of pedigree and experience in the EV world.
Omoway was founded last year by He Tao – one of the original founders of Xpeng Motors.
And He Tao is far from alone in pursuing his goal of making the EV scooter massive.

He’s joined by some of the top figures from Xpeng’s autonomous driving division.
He is also joined by some of Xpeng’s top designers, as well as mobile industry veterans.
