Chinese company Omoda has unveiled a bold new crossover SUV that looks like a Lamborghini Urus for just $40,000.

The new Omoda 3 will come with a fully electric, hybrid, and internal combustion powertrain, meaning there’s a model for everyone.

Omoda took the covers off the car at the recent Shanghai Auto Show, and it could be a fierce rival to other Chinese companies like BYD.

With it priced so competitively, when it comes to the United States the new car will also be a big rival to other similarly-sized crossovers.

The Omoda 3 costs less than $40,000

The new ICE, hybrid, and EV SUV will cost less than $40,000, and it is set for a global rollout in late 2026.

It sits on the same T1X platform as the Omoda 5, 7, and 9.

The platform is also shared with SUVs from Chinese automaker Jaecoo.

But the Omoda brand itself is owned by Chery International.

That company is hoping the brand will appeal to a younger customer base.

There are some interesting details about the Omoda 3.

For instance, there’s the sci-fi-inspired Starship cockpit dashboard graphics and the ‘shark’ nose option.

For gamers, there is also the ability to sync a Nintendo Switch with its large portrait touchscreen display.

Another interesting option is the promised ‘official racing pack.’

Omoda also said official body wraps will be available.

The new Chinese SUV could be a competitive offering

With such a good price point, the new SUV could be a very attractive proposition for many consumers.

In terms of power, the hybrid has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and a 150KW electric motor.

The 18.3KWH battery provides around 56 miles of all-electric range.

Technical details for the full-electric model are still being kept under wraps, though.

As it rides on the T1X platform in the E5, the new Omoda 3 should share the same EV powertrain.

That will see it have a single-motor front-wheel drive setup and a 61KWH battery pack.

The striking design certainly makes it appealing, and the SUV’s jagged lines do give it Lamborghini Urus vibes.

What the SUV also does is showcase just how far Chinese cars have come recently.

It also shows how big a rival they are for those European, Japanese, and American automakers.
